[edit] 2) BIRTHSIGN PLUGIN

All birthsign changes are based upon "the firmament" book: if you don't like it blame the book, not me.

The APPRENTICE give you an high skill boost but weakens considerably your resistance (20 skill bonus in all magical disciplines but weakens your resistance to magical and elemental attack by 50% and 25%).

With the ATRONACH ability you don't regain Magicka over time. Instead you have a 50% Spell Absorption to recharge your Magicka. Your base Magicka is also increased by 200 spellpoints.

The MAGE ability confers a permanent bonus to your Intelligence and Willpower (20), this means more magicka and faster restoration (I've tweaked this a bit), but poor Personality and Speechcraft (-20).

The LADY's Blessing confers bonuses of 10 points to your Willpower and Endurance attributes; Lady's Grace power fortify your Personality and Speechcraft by 20 for 30 seconds.

Being born under the LORD gives you the Blood of the North with a +10 in Strength and Endurance. However, you also gain the Trollkin curse, a permanent 50% Weakness to Fire.

Use the LOVER's Kiss power once a day to paralyze an opponent for 30 seconds at the cost of 120 points of Fatigue, the Lover Wisper let you seduce anyone once a day.

Those born under the RITUAL use the Mara's Gift power once a day as a powerful Restore Health spell. The Blessed Word can turn even the strongest undead, while the Blessed Touch works better with lower ones (area spell).

Gain the SERPENT spell to paralyze on touch with slow but potent poison, while simultaneously curing yourself and dispelling magic on yourself. Casting this spell costs 100 points of Fatigue.

SHADOW: Use the Moonshadow lesser power to become Invisible for 30 seconds (spellcost 25).

The STEED ability grants a bonus of 20 to your Speed attribute.

The THIEF ability grants a 10-point bonus to your Agility and Speed attributes, but a malus of -10 in Luck, which can be temporarely compensate by a fortify luck +20 power.

With the TOWER Key power, once a day open a door or container of average lock level or less. The Tower Warden gives you 50% resistance to paralysis.

WARRIOR: You get 10 skill bonus in weapon usage, +10 in Strength and -10 in Personality, Speechcraft and Mercantile.

I've changed a couple of skills that I found inconsistent with the gameplay: armorer is now depending from strength, acrobatics from agility, h2h from endurance; also made some skills grow a little slower (alchemy, speechcraft...)

[edit] 4) SPELLS

The spell file trys to fix unuseful spells (who cares for absorb blade for 10 sec?!) and balance effects (i.e. absorb fatigue cost almost like damage fatigue+restore fatigue). Further spells are now sorted per magic school, effect and power (DdH2 is Apprentice Destruction drain Health, DDH1 is Novice Destruction Damage Health etc.) I've also given (via setting) 50% more magicka to everybody just to let you cast master spells more easily. Further low willpower makes character restore mana slower, high mana willpower faster.

In detail:

  • Fire\lightning bolts are faster, ice fog is slower.
  • You suffer an higher cast malus if you wear armor (I know there're battlemages, but battlemages aren't all-time caster).
  • Remove spellmaking or enchanting to overpowered magic effect (take a tour to http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Spell_Making to know what I'm talking about).
  • To rebalance this I've added more useful version of that magic spells (i.e. I've made "drain armor spells" that drains light&heavy armor without costing double).
  • Note that some sold spells (like summoning or drain\absorb) are cheaper than spellmade versions.
  • Most mastery spells have a huge cost but huge effect: since with my race plugin you should have a bit more magicka this won't be a problem.
  • I've added side effect to some magic (frenzy for fire, drain speed for ice, silence for shock): it's just a test, so I didn't it to all elemental spells.
  • Since it is really too easy to increase illusion just by casting on self, you lose a bit fatigue when casting them (of course you could spellmake clean spells if you like).
  • Now bound armor is heavy, and each piece has a particular power (like was in Morrowind).

These are just minor fixex that (I hope) won't alter original gameplay. If you're looking for massive magic oriented changes that make you _feel_the_power_ of magic, there's the excellent Mighty Magick plugin by Damar Stiehl.

[edit] 5) Conflicts and troubleshooting

I use a huge quantity of plugins so I tried to make mine as compatible as possible (for sure it is compatible with Kobu's level system, Kal's balancing weapons, Oscuro overhaul, Paraxite's vampire, deadlier traps...since I use them). Note that some plugins change something here and there (Kal's change summoned armor, Oscuro's change warrior birthsign...). Remember that the last plugin loaded overwrite previous changes (use Oblivion Mod Manager to change load order): it is up to you choose if you want my changes or others in case of conflict.

Race file should conflict just with plugins that changes existing races.

Spell file just changes existing standard spells and magic effect: new spells are sold by a guy in Mystic Archives for maximum compatibility.
