[edit] Description
Wasn't it funny that your character could carry a full steel plate armor and few swords, but after picking up 1 little strawberry he suddenly gets crushed under the mighty weight of his inventory? Well, this mod fixes that by degrading the character's performance in a 6 level system.
- Unencumbered
- No stat drains. Fatigue recovers as normal.
- Slight encumbrance
- Drain Fatigue (3), Weakness to Normal Weapons (5) and lowers the Fatigue regeneration limit to 85%. Lost Fatigue will recover slower than normal. Fatigue will recover whilst running, but very slowly.
- Moderate encumbrance
- Drain Fatigue (5), Weakness to Normal Weapons (10) and lowers the Fatigue regeneration limit to 70%. Lost Fatigue recovers slowly when stood still or walking. Fatigue is lost slowly whilst running.
- Great encumbrance
- Drain Fatigue (10), Weakness to Normal Weapons (20) and lowers the Fatigue regeneration limit to 55%. Lost Fatigue doesn't recover, even when stood still or walking. Fatigue is lost quickly whilst running.
- Overload encumbrance
- Drain Fatigue (15), Drain Health (1), Weakness to Normal Weapons(40) and lowers the Fatigue regeneration limit to 40%. Fatigue lost quickly and Health lost slowly, even when stood still or walking...better have a Resotre Fatigue Potion handy. A messagebox will inform you when you get to this level, this is in order to avoid unnecessary Health loss if you're not paying attention.
- Crushing weight
- Drain Fatigue (35), Drain Health (3), Weakness to Normal Weapons (80) and lowers / keeps the Fatigue regeneration limit to 40%. You ain't goin' nowhere. Fatigue and Health both drop fairly quickly...drop some stuff NOW! This activates only when you pass maximum weight for Overload encumbrance. Again, a messagebox will inform you about this fact.
When you first carry more than you should be able to, you get extra carrying capacity. Think of it as rearranging your backpack to better balance the weight you are carrying. The adjustment is calculated from your strength and willpower by formula:
Extra weight per level of encumbrance = (Strength / 10) + (Will Power / 4)
At the same time, the upper limit for how much Fatigue you can regerate will be lowered by 15% per encumbrance level. From then on, you will not be able to regenerate to maximum Fatigue until you drop some equipment. This allows Oblivion to take charge of how reduced Fatigue affects your skills (thanks to kalniel for pointing that one out).
[edit] Change Log
v0.7
- All attribute / skill drains removed.
- Fatigue regen limit applied at each encumbrance level (-15% per level).
- Weakness to Normal Weapons Disease added (shakey-screen effect required, me thinks)
- Updated Installation instructions.
- Updated Conflicts / Known Errors (nothing serious).
- Updated Credits & Permissions.
v0.61
- All armour skill drains have been removed.
- Added skill drains for all weapons (Blade, Blunt, H2H & Marksman).
- Added Acrobatics skill drain.
- Changed attribute / skill drains from Abilities to Diseases.
v0.6
- Will now jump multiple encumbrance levels if you have picked up / dropped enough weight, rather than iterating through each level to get to the one you are at.
- Messages cleaned up a bit.
- Couple of minor bug fixes.
v0.51a
- Minor bug fix
v0.51
- Strength now affects carrying capacity too.
- Minimum extra carrying capacity is now 1.
v0.5
- Added Willpower affecting carrying capacity
- Cleaned up code a bit
v0.45
- Thanks to the great help from Mentalor from TES Nexus forums some bugs got fixed and code is more dynamic now
- The yoyo problem where player stood up from the crushed state is now fixed too and player stays down if fatigue goes below and unless player removes some stuff from inventory.
v0.41
- From the major remake due to excessive fatigue and tiredness I forgot the debug boxes in there, this just removes them leaving them only there if you're going beyond overload and when you remove enough stuff to get to overload state.
v0.4
- Cleaned up the script not to be so "dangerous", because it earlier modified the stats directly which caused problems
- Now uses spell effects to modify stats, much safer this way, has 4 different effects (light, moderate, heavy encumbrance and overload) (check above for more info)
- Added Drain skill to Sneak, Light Armor, Heavy Armor and Hand-To-Hand each at different strength at different encumbrance levels (check above for more info)
- Overload and crushing levels now damage your health and your fatigue (check above for more info)
- If player goes beyond overload, he's now crushed under the mighty weight of inventory, don't stick there too long though, it's hard to breath under tons of stuff.
- Added a fixer esp to the package in case someone wants to update to newer version, but has problems with the previous one. Read instructions from part 3 of this readme, "Installing the plugin"
v0.2
- Cleaned up version that does what it's supposed to do (NOTE: well.. actually didn't, at least for some users)
v0.1a
- Initial test version (not released)
[edit] Errors/Conflicts
- v0.45 onwards. High level players may not get the Fatigue drain effects described above, as they have a higher Fatigue regeneration rate. We would be interested to know how much the Fatigue drains actually do affect high level players...and whether they ought to be adjusted.
- v0.2 did something odd to the stats of some people. I got a similar effect myself, but haven't been able to fix it even though I spent 2 days with it. See end of the README for more information for v0.2 users.
