I was finding it pretty frustrating to be carrying and using so many potions to restore my Magicka, so I created this mod that increases the Magicka regeneration rate.
There are three versions of this mod (be sure to load ONLY ONE when playing!):
x1.2: Increases Magicka regeneration x1.2
x1.4: Increases Magicka regeneration x1.4
x1.6: Increases Magicka regeneration x1.6
x1.8 Increases Magicka regeneration x1.8
x2: Increases Magicka regeneration x2
x4: Increases Magicka regeneration x4
x8: Increases Magicka regeneration x8
Using the x8 mod, you will probably never fall below your maximum Magicka. Don't use this mod unless you don't mind cheating (obviously).
I think this mod deserves better than a mere name in the 'Cheats' section. I honestly think this isn't a cheat. I mean honestly, can't the player have the freedom to cast spells as much as he want without being limited by magicka? Isn't the whole point of being a mage-character to cast spells without regret? This is one of the best magicka related mods in my opinion. Also, about the 'not falling below maximum magicka' part, yes, if you use spells that drain a lot of magicka, you will once in a while fall to zero magicka.
Obviously, there are those who disagree with this view. If magicka is regenerated faster, birthsigns, race and attribute combinations that maximize magicka become worth far less. Maybe the point of being a mage-character isn't to cast spells without regret, but to cast them far better than the that club-wielding orc. Something like this might not be cheating only if several other changes were made to keep it balanced.
I may try this out on my next run through as a less magey character. I believe Alchemy was meant to be the end all answer to this problem, since ingredients that have "Restore Magicka" are very common and cheap, and the potions generated will last through most battles. At 100 Alchemy skill without a top set I'm making potions of restore magicka that do 18 a second for over 60 seconds...
I feel that a more balanced effect can be acheived by modifying the willpower magicka multiplier (TES Construction set -> gameplay -> settings -> fmagickareturnmult). That way, devoted mages will still be able to cast their spells as they were meant to be, while at the same time a fighter won't get this benefit.
I actually liked magicka regen mods for Morrowind, even though I felt a little 'cheap' while using them. How about making this ability available only to mage classes? (Have at least x major/special skills from magic school or skill req. etc as a condition for ability.)
Even better, make it a special ring you can find in the Archean Academy on an alter? obviously a place where you can get in only if you have become part of the Academy. Preferably with a big glowing symbol over it somehow. that would be perfect!
