[edit] Klarre Forestheart 2.5 Opus 1
Items: Armor, Clothes and Weapons. Good and/or nature friendly light armored Heroes listen up! Robert Ross, the owner of The Best Defense, has returned from a business trip. He has got a very nice set of armor and weapons for sale called Forestheart.
This is my first Oblivion plugin (Opus 1) and my first official plugin ever (I have made a few Morrowind plugins for my own use over the years). So please be kind, constructive criticism is appreciated, thanks!
Statistics are available in the readme. The readme is not included in the archives (easier to keep it up to date), so grab it separately! I hope you will enjoy the PDF (yes don't be afraid) readme more than the avarage TXT readmes out there.
[edit] Features
- A full set (helmet, cuirass, gauntlets, greaves, boots and shield) of high level light armor.
- An enchanted cloak (clothing).
- A set of high level weapons: sabre, knife, bow and arrow (and quiver).
- A new NPC called Robert Ross, the owner of “The Best Defense”.
[edit] Background
Excerpt from the Journal of Robert Ross, Retired Adventurer & Smith
“... The Bosmer took me to a secret ranger guild in their deep forests. There, I traded for a set of their unique Forestheart, which included armor, weapons and exactly 1000 arrows. The penalty for revealing their location is death. My memory is not what it once was but I better remember this. Their ability to track is famous, and they even know where I live. ...”
[edit] Description
The mod is for high level light armored (good and/or nature friendly) player who want to have something to spend their money on. The items are highly detailed so that they should be fun to wear as a “last” armor for a character. Thus the textures are twice the original resolution, which is the reason for the large file size.
Another reason for the mod is to make the Imperial City not look as empty as it does.
The armor is a retexture of the leather armor (note: not only a recoloring). Some tweaking of the meshes have been made. The shield is a retexture of the glass shield. The sabre and knife is a retexture of meshes from “Adonnay’s Elven Sabres”. The cloak is a retexture of a mesh from “Capes and Cloak by Someone1074”. The bow and arrow (and quiver) is a retexture of meshes from “Marcos’s Orcish Weapons”.
Some people has said that the leaf on the cuirass looks like a cannabis leaf. It does not, but I have included two alternative versions, “Maple” and “White Tree” (see Pictures).

[edit] FAQ
- Question: Why not a quest or fighting?
- Answer: Because this mod is one of hopfully many that will enhance the Imperial City. It is also a mod so that a high level character has something to spend money on.
- Question: It is a cannabis leaf!?
- Answer: No, check images before you say anything. It is actually included in Photoshop, would Adobe really do that?
- Question: Will you make more, or change, the alternate versions?
- Answer: I am afraid not, in that sense the mod is pretty much finished. Instead I will focus on fixes (if there are any needed), and new mods.
- Question: Are there only 1000 arrows?
- Answer: Yes, at the moment. I don't know how to add (cheat) non original items in oblivion, if you know please post it here. The ObjectID is: 0100CEF. There might be an change to the 1000 arrow limit in a future version.
- Question: What size is the cloak?
- Answer: Normal.

[edit] Review by Galahaut
After having a long list of problems extracting this mod, and working through those problems with Klarre, I was finally able to try out this mod. Before I even get to the mod, let me talk about the readme. Even though it is a .PDF, which normally, I despise, this readme was extremely well written. It answered all the questions I was asking myself, and ones that I hadn't even thought of. All the attributes of the items are listed, there are very detailed instructions for installing, upgrading, and uninstalling, and the readme is very organized.
Anyway, on to the mod. The "beginning" of the mod is its only true weak point. You simply walk into The Best Defense and buy the items. I would have preferred a small quest, or at least having the merchant less accessible. But, once you get past that part, the important part begins. If you bought everything, you would have 4 weapons, a complete set of light armor, and a cloak. These are "high level" items. Unfortunately, my current character uses heavy armor, or I would probably be wearing this set for a long time.
The items are creatively named. There is no "Forestheart Cuirass" or "Forestheart Shield." Instead, you have items like "Forestheart Bark," "Forestheart Heartwood," "Forestheart Branch," etc. This seemingly minor change serves to make the armor unique even before you look it on your character. Once you do, you'll see that the armor is extremely well textured. All the pieces, including the cloak, and even the quiver of arrows, go together very well, and really seem like they have a purpose (light ranger armor). Klarre has even included a choice of 3 different leaf textures for the armor. Maple, white tree, and the default. I personally chose the white tree, but all 3 were interesting. Finally, the cloak is a nice touch that makes the armor seem much more "ranger-like."
The weapons are not quite as interesting as the armor, but they are still well done. They aren't as unique looking, but they would still go well with the armor, especially the quiver, as mentioned above. I would definitely recommend this mod to any light armor users, especially those playing "ranger"-types.

I really like the names of the armor, although it can be very confusing at times. I really liked the 3 different textures in the plug-in. If he were to remake this mod (which I understand he's not) I would definatly work on the weapons. Perhaps texture the blade to make it look like a branch, but this would require a tremendous amount of effort on his part. Other then that I feel Galahaut has basically covered it. This is a great mod and I think it is featured mod material.
