[edit] Summary

FCOM seeks to destroy the old barriers that forced us to choose one "overhaul" versus another by combining the best aspects of them all, letting you play four of the largest Oblivion "overhaul" mods at the same time -- Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul (OOO), Martigen's Monster Mod (MMM), Oblivion WarCry, and Francesco's Leveled Creatures-Items. It also seeks to show how new item and/or creature expansion mods can be added directly to this environment, and thus includes direct support for Bob's Armory, Loth's Blunt Weapons, Exnem Runeskulls, Cobl, Tamrielic Ingredients, Knights of the Nine, Tamriel Travelers, and many other popular mods.

Here's a short summary of what you get when running FCOM:

  • Everything that OOO has to offer (great difficulty, expanded gameplay, static rewards, complete immersion);
  • Incredible added variety of items from Francesco;
  • Amazing added variety of enemies from MMM;
  • Even more added enemies and items from WarCry;
  • Possibility to add anything else you can imagine;
  • Preserves as much balance and immersion as possible;
  • Provides numerous configuration options to tailor the experience you want in your game;

So, how well does FCOM: Convergence deliver on this lofty goal? The big one is that it succeeds dramatically at increasing the variety of enemies and loot you will find. Here are some raw stats:

1,417 New Armor Variants
1,267 New Weapon Variants
255 New Clothing Variants
1,151 New Creature Variants
2,199 New NPC Variants

If you're looking for extensive compatibility guidelines, patches, more great OMOBS-balanced weapon mods, etc., then check out the new FCOM Wiki pages on UESP!

[edit] Install Guide

First things first...

  • Clean Install
    • It's a good idea to install FCOM for the first time on a clean install of Oblivion with no other mods installed. This way, you can avoid CTDs due to incompatibility with other mods or a wrong load order or a dozen other things that could go wrong if you install FCOM on top of other mods. Play it safe, save yourself a headache, and have a nice, new and clean install of Oblivion before you begin.
  • Make sure your game is updated to the latest version which is 1.2.0416 (you can read about the patch notes here). There are two versions of this patch - one for users who have "Shivering Isles" installed and one for those who don't. Download and install the correct patch based on your setup of Oblivion. If you are using a Steam version of the game; you have the latest patch so you can skip this step.

Now onto..

[edit] FCOM Requirements

[edit] BOSS (Better Oblivion Sorting Software)

  • Not Strictly neccessary, but helps A LOT in sorting your load order. Load Order is utterly essential in getting a working FCOM install.
  • Download Here

[edit] Wrye Bash

  • Download and install here
  • Again, Wrye Bash is a tool that will be used later in the tutorial and is utterly essential to using FCOM.

[edit] Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul

  • Download and install the files from "OOO135.7z", "OOO135BSA.7z", and if you so desire, "Harvest_Flora_v3_0_1.zip".
    • At this point, you should have the Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.bsa, together with Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esm and Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esp in your "Data" folder.
  • Activate (check) the plugins in Wrye Bash.

[edit] Francesco's Creatures and Items

  • Download and install Fran's 5 Main Package and go through the installation process, preferably using Wrye Bash's BAIN as per the readme.

The following items should only be installed manually if you know what you are doing, otherwise Wrye Bashe's BAIN feature will allow this to be mostly automated, so please spend the time reading up on BAIN!

  • Shivering Isles Version (only if you have SI installed)
    • Lyrondor's Combat Behavior (recommended)
    • 'Optional Leveled Guards' (for the SI version)
    • 'Optional Chance of More Enemies' (for the SI version)
    • 'Optional Chance of Stronger Enemies' (required)
    • 'Optional Chance of Stronger Bosses' (required)
    • 'New Items Add-On' [needs the FCOM add-on FCOM_FrancescosItemsAddOn.esp] (required)

  • At this point, it is best to have these plugins from Fran's in your "Data" folder (together with 'FraNewItems.bsa'):
    • Francesco's Leveled Creatures-Items Mod.esm
    • Francesco's Optional New Items Add-On.esm
    • Francesco's Optional Chance of Stronger Bosses.esp
    • Francesco's Optional Chance of Stronger Enemies.esp
    • Francesco's Optional Leveled Guards.esp (only if you have SI installed)
  • Activate (check) the plugins in Wrye Bash and use the FCOM Expanded Load Order page as reference and/or use the handy FCOM Helper to sort your load order.

*Be sure to rename the "FraNewItems.bsa" to "FCOM_Convergence_FraNewItems.bsa", or else you'll end up with missing content in game.

Use Enhanced economy instead of Living economy

[edit] Oblivion WarCry

  • Download and install "Oblivion WarCry EV Opti.7z", and "WarCryEv.7z" from Here

You should now have the "Oblivion WarCry EV.bsa", along with "Oblivion WarCry EV.esp" in your "Data" folder.

  • Activate (check) the plugins in Wrye Bash.

[edit] Martigen's Monster Mod

  • Download MMM 3.8 from here. You need to download "MMM38BSA.7z", "MMM38.rar" and as usual, you'll want the readme, included in "MMM 3.8 ReadMe and Version History.rar".

Note Well: This is the full version and it requires a clean install. It's necessary to remove everything from any previous install of MMM - meshes, sounds, textures, etc.

These files are in 7-Zip format, so extract Martigens Monster Mod.esm and the Mart's Monster Mod.bsa into your "Data" folder. At this point you should only have installed Marts Monster Mod.esm and Mart's Monster Mod.bsa into your data folder, from the .7z archives.

*Rename Mart's Monster Mod.bsa to "FCOM_Convergence_MartsMonsterMod.bsa" to ensure the data loads correctly.

  • If you want, you can also add some MMM add-ons like the following:
    • Mart's Monster Mod - Hunting & Crafting.esp
    • Mart's Monster Mod - Less Bone Loot.esp
    • Mart's Monster Mod - Vindasel.esp
    • Mart's Monster Mod - Resized Races.esp
    • Mart's Monster Mod - Dungeons of MMM.esp

Check the MMM readme for more information on what exactly those plugins do, and which ones cannot be used with FCOM.

  • Activate (check) the plugins in Wrye Bash.

[edit] Bob's Armory

[edit] Main Plugins

  • Download and install the required FCOM: Convergence (main)files included in the archives " FCOM Convergence 1.00.7z", "FCOM_Convergence.7z", and if you so desire, optional plugins in the archive " FCOM Optional Add-Ons.7z".

    • FCOM_Convergence.esm
    • FCOM_Francescos.esp
    • FCOM_FrancescosItemsAddOn.esp
    • FCOM_FrancescosNamedBosses.esp
    • FCOM_BobsArmory.esp
    • FCOM_WarCry.esp
    • FCOM_Convergence.esp
    • FCOM_RealSwords.esp

  • Highly recommended: The use of the handy utility, BOSS to sort your load order. Activate (check) the plugins in Wrye Bash.

[edit] FCOM Addons and other Supported mods

[edit] Loth's Blunt Weapons

  • Download and install Loth's Blunt Weapons for NPCs.
  • Use FCOM_LothsBluntWeapons.esp and load after Loth's Blunt Weapons for NPCs.esp.
  • Activate (check) the plugins in Wrye Bash.

[edit] Bashed Patch

This is THE most Important step in getting a working FCOM install. See below for how to use it...

[edit] New Game

  • Make sure you have Bashed Patch, 0.esp in your \Oblivion\Data\ folder. If you don't have it, go to \Oblivion\Mopy\Extras\ and copy Bashed Patch, 0.esp to your \Oblivion\Data\ folder.
    • Open Wrye Bash
    • Find Bashed Patch, 0.esp (which is almost always at the very end of your load order unless you're using Deadly Reflex) and right-click on it.
    • Select Rebuild Patch.
    • Select (and check) Merge Patches and make sure all the FCOM Mergeable Mods are also checked.
    • Make sure Leveled Lists is checked and the checkbox next to Automatic is also checked. Do NOT change/move anything in the Override Delev/Relev Tags window unless you know what you're doing!
    • Enable/change any other options that you want. If you don't know what a particular option does, go to the Wrye Bash site or simply hover your mouse over an option and look at the small section at the bottom to get a short description.
    • If you're happy with the changes and have double-checked everything, click OK to build your Bashed Patch.
    • Review the changes that were made and start a new game.

Remember to run your Load Order through BOSS. Always do this if you add more mods later.

  • Always remember to rebuild your bashed patch after running BOSS.

[edit] Existing Saved Game

  • Load a previously saved game and then type coc TestingHall in the console (press the ~ key).
    • Sleep/wait for your cell respawn time to pass (default is 3 days) and then sleep/wait for another extra day (just to be sure).
    • Save your game and then exit.
    • Make sure you have Bashed Patch, 0.esp in your \Oblivion\Data\ folder. If you don't have it, go to \Oblivion\Mopy\Extras\ and copy Bashed Patch, 0.esp to your \Oblivion\Data\ folder.
    • Review the changes that were made.
    • Click the Saves tab in Wrye Bash.
    • Right-click on your last saved game (the one in the ' Testing Hall') and select Update NPC Levels.
    • Launch the game and load your updated saved game (to get out of the ' Testing Hall,' type coc ICMarketDistrictRindirsStaffs in the console. Or, if you prefer another location, use any of the location ID names listed in this page).

Remember to run your Load Order through BOSS. Always do this if you add more mods later.

  • Always remember to rebuild your bashed patch after running BOSS.

Final note: The guide at FCOM is out dated and cannot be recommended, unless you're really interested.
