The Graphics category and subcategories need some clean-up, or at least better descriptions, especially Graphics Tweaks and Replacers. Where should texture packs like Landscape LOD Texture Replacement, Jarrod's Texture Mod or Better Nightsky go? Should all of them go to Replacers, because they just provide new textures? And mods like Better Water that tweak game parameters to change how the game looks should go to Graphics Tweaks? How about mods that do both, like Natural Environments? And what about item texture replacers like White Glass, should they be listed somewhere under Graphics, too? TL

I agree. I think the problem is with trying to categorize mods into discrete groups, when mods often belong to many. For example, a mod that adds a new weapon with a new model/texture should belong exactly where it should appear to belong: the categories "weapons" and "models/textures". I suggest the following categories:
  1. face, hair, body models/textures
  2. item models/textures
  3. graphics tweaks
  4. user interface

I would agree with the above except for the "Item models/textures". IMO, the item reskin should go solely in the item category it belongs to, i.e. a new sword mesh or texture would go only in category:Weapons, and a horse resking would gon only in category:Horses. Also, I think we need one more category along the lines of world models/textures for new/reskinned architecture and landscape and that sort of thing. The Replacers category probably should be deprecated or deleted then. -dysesothymteric- 22 April, 2006 04:35 (PST)
A new sword mesh/texture should go in both "item models/textures" and "weapons". There's no reason why it can't exist in two categories. The distinction between the two is that I consider a "weapon" to be an actual ingame weapon that was created in the CS, while a weapon model/texture isn't. The former is for user consumption, while the latter is more of a modder resource. There are also new weapons that don't have new models/textures. --Maian 20:53, 22 April 2006 (CDT)
