[edit] description
Book Jackets: Oblivion is a basic retexture for all of the stock hardcover books in Oblivion, giving each title a unique texture and matching icon. Most books are titled on the spine and books in a series are also numbered. This mod is compatible with Book Placement as explained in the readme.
I wouldn't say it's a "better books" mod because I think Bethesda's books were beautiful to begin with. It's just an immersion mod. So much work went into the stories in the books that I thought they deserved to be as unique on the outside.
In addition to the graphics I've made some minor corrections to the text (typos, inconsistent spelling of names and repeated words, mostly) and made the mouseover text better match the titles as printed inside the book. Some cells have been altered where there were whole rows of books upside-down. I didn't clean up any clutter or move the books.
[edit] KOTN version
[edit] ============================
This mod was created to fill the void of having no book replacement mods for KOTN - even if there are only a few new books, it still looks odd when all the books have new unique textures while others use the default book meshes.
I created from scratch new textures for the few books that are added by KOTN. Because I implemented the changes to only a few records in the original Knights.esp, I decided to use mod "de-isolation" to create a patch that only replaces those records. This techinique was used in the Unofficial Official Mods Patch (UOMP), and allows mod authors to edit existing records, while also making ESPs dependent on the original ESP.
As such, this mod REQUIRES you to have KOTN installed and enabled - without it, Oblivion WILL CRASH. You must place the ESP AFTER Knights.esp in order for the game to load properly. Not doing so will cause the Oblivion to crash the same as if Knights.esp was non-existent.
[edit] Shivering isles version
[edit] Shivering Book Jackets
All Shivering Isles books have been re-textured with the exception of "The Madness of Pelagius" and generic journals and the like. This mod should be used alongside "Book Jackets: Oblivion", which already contains a beautiful "Madness".
My goal was to make the jackets look worn and reflect the madness of the isles themselves. The more rare the book, the more unique it is likely to be. Do I mean to imply that Fenroy bit every single copy of his ravings in the lower right corner? Well, heck. It's Fenroy. Did you READ that thing!?
[edit] Grimbot's Spell Tomes
Around 75 new book jackets for DLCSpellTomes. Ever notice that your tome of Light looks exactly like the tome of Fire Mark and the Restoration tomes on your bookshelf? No? What? You don't even keep spell tomes on your bookshelf? Well, maybe now you will. Maybe. You're so fickle...
