Do you ever get tired of being auto-acquired after attacking an NPC or creature? You know, when the sneak eye stays solid (detected) even if you are out of line of sight and perfectly still? And no matter how hard you try to hide using sneak, they always find you anyways... like the Terminator with built-in radar or something. Well, I also got tired of it too. It just wasn't realistic.
This mod makes it where the NPCs and creatures will 'search' for you after an attack or when you are spotted in line of sight or sound. Basically now, you have a chance to attack (stealth or regular), and then run away and hide. When they are searching for you, the sneak eye might change back and forth between solid and faded many times. This might mean they might be close to finding you. Your best chance to evade in this situation is to hide behind something out of their line of sight and stay perfectly still. If you are out of their line of sight, there is a good chance they won't find you. Just stay perfectly still. But if the sneak eye stays solid for longer period of time, they might be closing in to find you. They might even search the area they last saw you.
The farther distance you are from the enemy, the better chance you have of hiding, and remaining hidden. Plus hiding behind something is even better. And don't forget about using shadows and darkness, too. If you are far enough away, you also might be able to shoot off a few arrows into the enemy and remain undetected. It just depends on the situation. There is a good chance you can escape undetected or attempt another stealth attack if you are careful.
[edit] Versions
[edit] 2.0
Attack and Hide v2.0 includes 3 different versions with varying degrees of difficulty (easier, medium, and harder). Please try all 3 versions and decide for yourself which one best suits you and your play style. All 3 versions give a better chance of hiding and evading than in the original game. Still available here.
[edit] 2.1
- Reduces magnitude of Chameleon spells and enchantments down to 25% of original. This should balance out gameplay at higher levels now.

Attack and Hide is one of those mods that you look at and wonder why the heck Bethesda didn't include it in the first place, it makes perfect sense. I'd even go as far as to call this a fix, rather than a mod, because this is how the stealth in the game should have worked in the first place.
Attack and Hide does exactly what it says on the tin, you can attack an enemy and then hide again. Originally, you could attack an enemy but no matter how far you ran away, whether you jumped down holes, dashed through corridors, down secret passages and into the darkest corner you could find, your enemy would eventually find you. This mod makes it so they have to search; if you hit an enemy in the back with an arrow from a distance, they'll run to where the arrow came from and they will search for you. Same goes for those sneaky assassins who want to stab an enemy in the back, and then slink away into darkness, only to strike at them again once you've lulled them into a false sense of security.
There is absolutely no reason not to download this mod, but it is my personal recommendation to use the "Harder" .esp rather than the Medium or Easy ones. I feel that the Harder one provides the perfect balance, the other two seem to make it a bit too easy to sneak attack, hide, sneak attack, hide, until your enemy is dead.

This is a great mod. It does what it says and it does it well. I agree with Liggs that this should be considered a fix, not a mod. For me, I like a challenge. So I have and always will, choose the hardest version of this mod. If the author made one that is harder than hard, I would use it because I think that it is just a tad too easy for my liking. Anyway, great mod. I give Mr. nvdrifter a HUGE congrats for making it!!!
