[edit] What is it?
Crafting mod is an unique system which lets the player mine ore, smelt them, and forge new, powerful armors and weapons. The mod will be divided to 2 main categories of new materials: Base Metals (Iron, Silver, Mitril, and Gold), Gems (Emerald, Sapphire, Ruby and Obsidian). Within each category the required tools will be different as well as the mode of obtaining the material. The mod's integral part will be the empowering section which lets the player place powerful enchantments on the items crafted. This empowering will be completely diffent from the enchanting normally used in the game. Basically the item's quality limits the strength of the empowering. The process will require large amounts of rare ingredient called daedric powder, which can be aquired by destroying daedric items. Crafted armors will be generally much more powerful (stronger, lighter, more durable) than their normal counterparts.
[edit] How to start
Visit the First Edition in the Imperial City market distict. You need to buy the book called "Arcane Crafting". Yeah, I know, it's expensive.
| Warning: This mod is not intended for the "I WANT IT ALL, I WANT IT NOW" personality. It took me about 10-12 hours till I could reach the point where I could craft/mine almost anything. If you do not wish to work for the exceptional powers, forget using this mod. Really. |
[edit] Who can use this mod
This mod is mainly for high-level characters, however low-level characters may find the base metal armors/weapons useful. However mining gemstones is dangerous. And I mean it. Try it, if you dare.
[edit] Compatibility
This mod has been developed with broad compatibility in mind, however there were some technical issues forcing me to modify Altar of Enchantment script, and Sigil Stones. So there could be conflict with mods modifying them. Also First Edition vendor has been modified along with some mines.
[edit] FAQ
Q: How should I start?
A: Buy and read the book from the First Edition.
Q: I found a Strange Ayleid box and I can't open it.
A: Try harder, use your mind and imagination.
Q: How do I mine?
A: Equip the Mining Staff and shoot at the Gold or Silver Veins
located in mines. Some mines are better (having more veins),
some mines outright suck.
Q: What can I do with the Ore?
A: As soon as you have 10 ore, you can smelt them using the anvil.
Drop the anvil to the ground and activate. Choose use anvil.
10 ore produces 1 bar of the same metal. You need to have
Skillstone: Crafting.
Q: I can mine only Iron Ore. Why?
A: You have to mine more, your mining skill will increase, and you
will be able to mine better ore. Mkay?
Q: How do I craft?
A: Equip Iron Crafting Hammer, and use the menu provided.
Q: I can craft only Iron Armors. Why?
A: You have to craft more, your crafting skill will increase, and
you will be able to craft from other type of metal.
Q: Something is not working.
A: I'm sorry. If you think you have found some bug, contact me at
flatline.hu@gmail.com. Thank you.
Q: I can't enter Silorn. Why? I could find only two Alyeid Chests. Where are the others?
A: Only two locations contain anything related to crafting from
the four mentioned in the book. Silorn is not one of them. Move on.
Q: Where is the Silver Mining Staff/Silver Crafting Hammer/
Staff of Destrucion/Gold Crafting Hammer?
A: When your crafting skill is high enough, you can craft them
with Iron Crafting Hammer, special menu. They require materials
(gold bar, silver bar, etc)
Q: When I place The Anvil into any container it is duplicated. Why?
A: It's a bug, I've already fixed it, however I won't release it until something
greater comes along. Till then, do not place The Anvil into any containers.
Q: How do I get Daedric Powder?
A: Place the item to be destroyed into any container, and shoot the container.
You may want to try it against living opponents. Bear in mind, however only non-magical daedric equipment can be destroyed this way. (Arrows excluded) The resulting Daedric Nuggets can be refined using The Anvil.
Q: What are the runestones and how can I craft them?
A: Runestones are magical items that can meld with crafted armor. After the melding, equipping the armor will provide special advantages. If you have crafted a better armor, you can disempower your previous armor with the disempower runestone. Using runestones is easy: drop the item you wish to empower, equip the runestone, and "touch" the object you wish to empower. Crafting runestone requires Gold Crafting Hammer and Daedric powder. Different type of armors have different "capacity" regarding runestones. More information can be gained by visitng project website.
[edit] Issues that will not be corrected
- Orb of Clearsight shows every script modifier
- Some mines do not include ore veins at all
